Resetting a Microsoft 365 User Password

Microsoft 365 password reset admin login By Cade · Updated 03/05/26 07:09 AM
To reset a user's Microsoft 365 password, navigate to the admin center (admin.microsoft.com) and go to Users > Active users. Click the user's name, then select Reset password from their profile page. Choose whether to auto-generate a password or set a custom one. If you auto-generate, make sure to copy it before closing the dialog. Check the box to require the user to change their password at next login — this is a security best practice. If the user has self-service password reset (SSPR) enabled, they can reset their own password at aka.ms/sspr using their registered backup methods. For accounts with MFA, the admin can also reset MFA methods if the user is locked out entirely.
