Microsoft 365 Usage Reports for Admins

Microsoft 365 reporting usage admin analytics By Cade · Updated 03/05/26 07:09 AM
Microsoft 365 provides built-in usage reports to track adoption and identify underutilized licenses. Access them at admin.microsoft.com > Reports > Usage. Reports are available for Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Yammer, and more. Key reports: Email activity (who is sending/receiving email), Teams user activity (meetings attended, messages sent), OneDrive activity (files viewed/modified), and Microsoft 365 activations (which devices have Office installed). Data is available for 7, 30, 90, or 180-day periods. Use the Active users report to identify inactive accounts that may be candidates for license reclamation. Note: by default, user names are anonymized in reports for privacy compliance. Admins can de-anonymize this in Settings > Org settings > Reports if needed for your organization's compliance requirements.
