Using System Restore to Undo Windows Problems

System Restore lets you roll Windows back to a previous working state by restoring the registry and system files to a saved restore point, without affecting personal files. It's particularly useful after a bad driver install or Windows Update. To use it: search for 'Create a restore point' in the Start menu, click System Restore, and follow the wizard. Choose a restore point dated before the problem began. The wizard shows which programs will be affected (installed or removed during that period). If Windows won't boot, access System Restore from the Advanced startup options (Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore). Note that restore points are only available if System Protection was enabled on the drive beforehand — verify this is enabled on all machines by right-clicking This PC > Properties > System Protection and ensuring Protection is set to On for the C: drive.
