Configuring Find Me / Follow Me Call Forwarding

VoIP & phone systems find me follow me call forwarding VoIP mobility By Cade · Updated 03/05/26 07:38 AM
Find Me / Follow Me is a call forwarding feature that rings multiple devices in sequence or simultaneously, ensuring calls reach users wherever they are. It's ideal for mobile workers who may not always be at their desk. Configuration typically involves defining a list of numbers/extensions to try: desk phone first (ring for 15 seconds), then mobile phone (ring for 20 seconds), then another colleague or voicemail. Some platforms ring all simultaneously. In most VoIP platforms, this is configured in the user's extension settings under 'Follow Me' or 'Forwarding.' Users can often manage it themselves through the web portal or mobile app. Best practice: set a final destination (voicemail) so calls never ring indefinitely. Advise users to disable Follow Me to their mobile when off-duty to maintain work-life balance. Test the feature by calling from an external number and verifying each stage of the ring sequence works correctly.
