Headset Recommendations and Setup for VoIP Systems

VoIP & phone systems headset VoIP USB Bluetooth audio By Kerry · Updated 03/05/26 07:38 AM
The right headset significantly impacts call quality and user comfort. For desk-based VoIP users, a wired USB or 3.5mm headset is most reliable. Wireless options introduce potential audio delay and battery management requirements but improve mobility. For corded USB headsets: Jabra Evolve 40, Plantronics Voyager Focus, or Logitech H390 are reliable choices for business use. Connect via USB; Windows or Mac will detect them automatically. Configure the headset as the default audio device in Sound settings. In the VoIP app or desk phone settings, select the headset as the audio input/output device. For wireless (DECT) headsets: Jabra Pro 900 series or Plantronics CS500 series work with desk phones via an EHS (Electronic Hook Switch) cable, allowing users to answer calls without touching the phone. For softphone users, Bluetooth headsets like the Jabra Evolve2 65 offer freedom of movement. Avoid consumer-grade Bluetooth earbuds for professional calls — they typically have lower microphone quality and shorter battery life.
