To install a network printer on Windows, first confirm the printer's IP address — print a configuration page from the printer's front panel menu, or check the router's DHCP client list. In Windows, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device. Windows will scan for printers; if the printer appears, click it and follow the prompts.
If Windows doesn't auto-detect it: click 'The printer that I want isn't listed,' then 'Add a printer using an IP address or hostname.' Enter the printer's IP address and select Standard TCP/IP Port. Windows will attempt to find the correct driver automatically.
For best results, download the printer driver directly from the manufacturer's website (HP, Epson, Brother, Canon) rather than relying on the generic Windows driver. Manufacturer drivers unlock all printer features. After installation, print a test page (right-click the printer > Printer properties > Print Test Page) and set it as default if appropriate.
