Webcam and Video Conferencing Hardware Setup

For professional video calls, the built-in laptop webcam is often acceptable but a dedicated USB webcam provides better image quality, wider field of view, and more mounting flexibility. Popular business webcams: Logitech C920/C925, BRIO 4K, or the Logitech MeetUp/Rally for conference rooms. Setup: plug the USB webcam in, Windows installs it automatically as a camera device. In Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other conferencing apps, go to the video settings and select the webcam from the camera dropdown. Test the image in the preview — adjust the camera angle, ensure lighting is in front of you (not behind, which causes silhouetting), and frame yourself with your face in the upper two-thirds of the frame. For conference room setups: a wide-angle conference camera (Logitech MeetUp, Owl Labs Meeting Owl) captures the whole room. Position the camera at eye level on or above the screen. Connect to the room computer and configure in Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms settings. Ensure the microphone (built into most conference cameras) is positioned toward participants — test audio pickup from all seats in the room.
