Accessing Microsoft 365 from a Web Browser

Microsoft 365 Microsoft 365 browser web app login By Kerry · Updated 03/05/26 07:51 AM
All Microsoft 365 apps are accessible from any browser at office.com — no local installation required. Sign in with the user's work email and password, then complete the MFA prompt. The app launcher (grid icon, top-left) opens any app: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, and more. Web apps have slightly fewer features than desktop clients but cover 95% of everyday tasks. They're ideal when working on a non-company computer (hotel, client site). Browsers save the user's sign-in session, so if using a shared computer, always click 'Sign out' when done and avoid saving passwords in the browser. For the best browser experience, use Edge or Chrome. Safari works for most apps. Some advanced features (like Outlook meeting room booking details or certain SharePoint workflows) may require the desktop client. Advise users experiencing issues in the browser app to try the desktop client to rule out browser-specific problems.
