Scan-to-folder sends scanned documents directly to a network shared folder. It's useful for document management workflows where scanned files should go directly to SharePoint, a file server, or a NAS.
Setup requires: a network share accessible to the printer, user credentials with write permission to the share, and the printer's web interface. In the printer's admin console, navigate to Scan Destinations or Address Book > Add SMB destination. Enter the server/computer name or IP address (\\server\sharename), the username and password, and the subfolder path.
Test by scanning a document and checking if it appears in the target folder. Troubleshooting: SMBv1 disabled (most modern Windows versions disable SMBv1 by default — some older printers only support SMBv1; upgrade printer firmware or enable SMBv2 destination in the printer settings). Credential errors (verify the username includes the domain: domain\username). Share permissions (verify both share permissions AND NTFS permissions grant write access to the scanning account). Network connectivity (ping the server from another device on the same network as the printer to verify routing).
