The Microsoft Teams mobile app lets you join meetings, chat, and collaborate from your phone. Here's how to get it set up and working well.
Download the Teams app:
- iPhone: App Store > Microsoft Teams
- Android: Google Play > Microsoft Teams
Signing in:
1. Open the Teams app and tap Sign in
2. Enter your work email address
3. Enter your Microsoft 365 password
4. Complete MFA if prompted (approve on Authenticator or enter code)
5. Your teams, channels, and chats will load automatically
Joining a meeting from your phone:
- If you receive a Teams meeting invite in your calendar, open it and tap "Join Microsoft Teams meeting"
- If someone sends you a join link, tap it — Teams will open automatically
- Before joining, Teams will ask to use your microphone and camera — allow both
Managing notifications:
Teams notifications can become overwhelming. To customize them:
1. Tap your profile picture in the top left
2. Go to Notifications
3. Set which activities send push notifications — many people turn off "Liked a message" and "Channel mentions" for less noise
Useful mobile Teams features:
- Walkie-talkie (push-to-talk) feature for hands-free communication
- Share your phone screen during a meeting (tap the three dots > Share)
- Background blur during video calls (tap video icon > Background effects)
Battery drain:
Teams can use significant battery in the background. If it's draining your battery, go to your phone's app settings and restrict background activity for Teams.
Tip: If you don't want to be reachable on Teams after hours, turn on Quiet Hours:
Profile picture > Notifications > Quiet hours > Set a schedule
