The Yealink T54W is a business IP phone used by many of our clients. Here's a quick guide to the most common everyday functions.
Making a Call:
- Lift the handset and dial the number, then press the green Call softkey
- Or dial the number first with handset on-hook, then lift the handset or press Speaker
- For an internal extension, just dial the extension number directly
Answering a Call:
- Lift the handset to answer
- Or press the Answer softkey on screen
- Or press the Speaker button to answer hands-free
- Or press the Headset button if you're using a headset
Ending a Call:
- Place the handset back on the cradle, OR
- Press the End Call softkey on the screen
Adjusting Volume:
- During a call, use the +/- rocker button on the left side of the phone to raise or lower the handset, speaker, or headset volume
- On the home screen, the same button adjusts ringer volume
Muting Yourself:
- Press the Mute button (microphone with a line through it) on the phone
- The button lights red when muted — callers cannot hear you but you can still hear them
- Press again to unmute
Putting a Call on Hold:
- Press the Hold softkey during a call
- The caller hears hold music
- Press Resume to return to the call
Transferring a Call:
Blind Transfer (send to another extension without announcing):
1. During a call, press Transfer (Tran) softkey
2. Dial the extension or number
3. Press Transfer again — the caller is transferred immediately
Attended Transfer (announce the call first):
1. During a call, press Transfer (Tran) softkey
2. Dial the extension — you'll hear it ring
3. When the other person answers, announce the call
4. Press Transfer to complete
Checking Voicemail:
Press and hold the 1 key, or press the Messages button (envelope icon) on the phone.
Follow the voicemail system prompts to listen to, save, or delete messages.
