Microsoft Teams: Camera Not Working in Meetings

Microsoft Teams Teams camera video webcam meeting not working By Cade · Updated 03/04/26 10:34 PM
If your camera isn't showing video in Microsoft Teams meetings, here's how to troubleshoot it. Step 1: Check Windows camera privacy settings 1. Open Windows Settings (Win + I) 2. Go to Privacy > Camera 3. Make sure "Allow apps to access your camera" is On 4. Scroll down and confirm Microsoft Teams is allowed Step 2: Select the correct camera in Teams Click your profile picture in Teams > Settings > Devices. Under "Camera," select your webcam from the dropdown. You should see a live preview below it. Step 3: Close other apps using the camera Only one application can use the camera at a time. Make sure Zoom, Skype, or other video apps are closed before joining a Teams call. Step 4: Unplug and reconnect the camera For external USB webcams, unplug the camera, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. Try a different USB port if available. Step 5: Update or reinstall camera drivers Open Device Manager > Cameras or Imaging Devices. Right-click your camera and select "Update driver." If that doesn't help, right-click and "Uninstall device," then restart the computer — Windows will reinstall the driver automatically. Step 6: Reinstall Microsoft Teams If nothing else works, uninstall Teams via Settings > Apps, restart your computer, and download a fresh copy from teams.microsoft.com. Note: Some laptops have a physical camera shutter or a function key (Fn + camera key) that blocks the camera. Check that this isn't engaged.
